Short-Form Video Editor

MakeFans is a small content marketing agency for lifestyle creators, building and running a handful of creator brands on Instagram. We specialize in producing high-volume, engaging short-form content designed for Instagram Reels: warm, cozy lifestyle content with a tight pacing rule and a recognizable sound.

We're looking for an experienced Short-Form Video Editor to join our remote team.

The Role

As a Short-Form Video Editor, you'll be responsible for turning raw footage and creative briefs into polished, engaging vertical videos, and for remaking proven winners into fresh variants.

You'll work closely with the founder, our Marketer, Researcher, and General Assistants to ensure content is edited accurately, efficiently, and delivered on schedule.

This is a high-volume editing position. Many of the videos we produce are relatively straightforward, but we produce a significant amount of content every day: once ramped, 10 to 20 reels a day within a 24 to 48 hour turnaround.

We're looking for someone who can maintain quality while working quickly, consistently, and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Edit high volumes of short-form vertical video content in 9:16 format, 15 to 30 seconds

• Create content for Instagram Reels

• Turn raw footage into polished, ready-to-post video

• Coordinate with the team to ensure all necessary footage and briefs are available

• Add captions, text pops, sound layers, and simple transitions where appropriate

• Create strong hooks within the opening two seconds of a video

• Keep something happening every 2 to 3 seconds without losing the calm feel

• Effectively use pacing, trimming, sound design, cuts, and text to hold attention

• Maintain each creator's individual thread on top of our shared brand foundation

• Organize project files and exports properly (double exports, correct naming)

• Complete revisions quickly when requested

• Consistently meet deadlines and expected editing output

• Communicate proactively on Discord if footage, assets, instructions, or information are missing
  
  

What We're Looking For

• Experience editing short-form content for creators, lifestyle brands, or multiple accounts simultaneously is a major advantage.

• Editing Software

• We edit in CapCut desktop so files and workflows stay interchangeable across the team. If you currently work in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, that's fine, as long as you're comfortable switching.

• We're less concerned about your background and more concerned about the quality, speed, and consistency of your work.
  

What Success Looks Like:

This role is not about spending an entire day perfecting one video.

We operate in a high-volume environment, so the ideal editor understands how to balance quality with efficiency.

A successful editor at MakeFans will be able to:

• Produce a high number of quality edits consistently

• Meet deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail

• Understand the intended style from the written playbook without excessive back-and-forth

• Identify opportunities to improve hooks, pacing, and retention

• Keep projects organized across creators

• Communicate effectively with the rest of the team

• Become faster and more efficient as they learn our creators and systems

• Pay and Setup

• $7 per hour based on experience, plus bonuses for standout edits. Paid weekly. Fully remote with flexible hours. You need a laptop that handles raw vertical footage, stable internet (50+ Mbps), written English at B2 or better, and at least 4 hours a day without another part-time job.
