Job description

About the role and the company hiring.

Location: Remote; candidates must be based in South Africa.
Engagement: Part-time.
Compensation: US$1,200 per month.
Weekly output: 30–40 minutes of finished, edited video.

About the role

We’re a confidential direct-to-consumer eCommerce company looking for a performance-minded video editor to create short-form paid-social ads. You’ll turn supplied briefs, scripts, footage and product assets into clear, mobile-first creatives built to earn attention and support conversion—not just polished brand films. The company name will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

What you’ll do

  • Edit direct-response video ads for placements such as Meta Reels/Stories/Feed and TikTok.

  • Create AI-avatar/talking-head assets from briefs—not just edit pre-made avatars—and integrate them naturally into ads.

  • Use AI tools for avatar creation, video/image generation and asset iteration; apply prompting and post-production to get usable, on-brief results.

  • Combine UGC, product demonstrations, lifestyle/B-roll, voiceover, captions, simple motion graphics and supplied brand assets.

  • Create attention-holding openings and requested hook variations; make purposeful choices on pacing, sequencing and visual changes.

  • Keep visuals aligned with the spoken message and clear on a phone.

  • Self-QA lip-sync, avatar realism, continuity, generated-media artifacts, captions, audio, spelling, framing, safe zones and export quality.

  • Organise project files, deliver requested versions/aspect ratios, apply feedback and use performance learnings when provided.

  • Communicate progress and blockers reliably in an asynchronous team workflow.

What we’re looking for

  • A portfolio of paid-social/direct-response video ads for eCommerce brands; identify your personal contribution.

  • Hands-on experience creating AI avatars/talking-head content and using AI tools in a production workflow is required.

  • Strong short-form editing fundamentals: hooks, pacing, visual storytelling, captions, sound and mobile-first composition.

  • Good judgement on UGC, product shots, demonstrations, B-roll, overlays and motion graphics.

  • Careful QA of generated content for unnatural movement, mismatched lip-sync, inconsistent appearance and other visible artifacts.

  • Reliable delivery, organised project files, professional communication and a dependable remote-work setup.

  • No single AI platform is mandated; list the tools you use and what you personally create with them.

Reference ads

Please review these GetHook’d examples as creative references—not templates to copy. In your application, tell us what you notice about the opening, pacing, captions, story/proof and visual choices:

  • PetLab Co — “I Thought I Got Suckered…” (33s)

  • Wuffes — “82% Saw Improvement in 3 Weeks” (53s)

  • Pet Honesty — “Doggy Breath? Keep Your Pup’s Teeth Healthy…” (36s)

How to apply

Please submit your portfolio and 2–3 eCommerce ads you edited, including at least one AI-avatar/talking-head ad you personally created. Explain the tools/workflow you used, what you handled, and your availability and typical turnaround. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to a clearly scoped paid editing/AI-avatar test using supplied materials; the test fee will be agreed before work starts. No unpaid speculative work is requested.

This is a direct company role. Apply with a short statement and resume. HireSava does not charge applicants or sit in the middle of your application.
