About Magnolia Tax Services
Magnolia Tax Services is a virtual tax firm specializing in tax preparation, planning, representation, bookkeeping, and small business funding. We help individuals and small businesses keep more of what they earn — serving clients anywhere in the world, entirely remotely. We're a U.S.-based firm (Milwaukee, WI) with a fully remote team.
The Role
You're the first person our leads talk to — and often the reason they become clients. This is a phone-forward sales and client-care role: you'll speak with inbound leads, understand their situation, quote the right services, and follow through until they're onboarded and well taken care of. It's equal parts selling, relationship-building, and reliable execution.
What you'll do
Speak with inbound leads and run intake — understand their needs and quote tax prep, planning, bookkeeping, and funding
Follow up consistently (our standard is every ~3 days) until a lead becomes a client or is a clear no
Close the sale — including guiding clients toward tax planning, not just preparation
Request and collect the documents clients need to get started
Keep client billing current — update payment methods and recover expired cards with a friendly, professional touch
In slower post-season periods, step into an account-manager role — checking in with planning clients so they feel supported
Build tax plans in our software (Tax Plan IQ) — we'll train you, but comfort with basic tax concepts helps
Keep every lead and client accurately updated in our CRM
Who thrives here
A strong, warm communicator — confident and natural on the phone, builds trust fast
Reliable to the core — hits deadlines, follows up without being reminded, rarely lets anything slip
Coachable and structured — you like clear processes and feedback, and you treat your first months as learning-first
All-in — this role is your focus, not a side gig you're hedging against another job
A closer — comfortable asking for the business and for payment (a real plus if you've closed before)
Requirements
Excellent spoken and written English
Able to work full-time on U.S. Central (CST) hours
Reliable high-speed internet, a quiet workspace, and a headset
Phone-based sales, customer success, or client-service experience
Experience in tax, accounting, or financial services is a strong plus but not required
A degree is welcome but not required — we value proven communication and closing ability over credentials
